A seven year old boy has been killed and a four year old boy critically injured after an accident at the corner of South Coast Road and Blamey Road in Durban around 7am this morning.
Rescue Care Paramedics and Durban Search and Rescue arrived on the scene to find that a taxi and a car had collided in a T-Bone format in the junction. Two children who were passengers in the back seat of the car were found in a critical condition. Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise the two on the scene.
The seven year old child went into cardiac arrest and despite paramedics attempt at resuscitation the injuries sustained were to severe and the child passed away on scene. The four year old child was placed on a manual ventilator on the scene and rushed to a nearby hospital for the urgent care that he required. A passenger from the taxi and a pedestrian were also injured in the accident and transported to hospital for further care.
At this stage the exact cause of the collision is unknown however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
