Charlize Theron is currently in Durban, South Africa for the International AIDS conference.
Charlize will be one of the opening speakers at the conference being held in Durban, the conference will look at how government’s Sex Worker HIV plan will be rolled out, as well as the legal position on sex work and the effective implementation of this plan.
while the conference discusses these important issues two sex workers who were going to work as volunteers at the conference were not able to gain access to the conference.
Sisonke Sex Worker Movement says they were barred because they had previous criminal records (one for prostitution, the other on a drug-related charge).
Concerns have been raised that sex workers who are at the forefront in the battle against HIV have been sidelined because of strict accreditation process.
Theron is a crucial part of the conceference and draws her experience in her direct involvement when she founded the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project and UN Messenger of Peace.
