The woman was found with duct tape around her face and was discovered by a neighbour at their gated complex.
The 63-year-old doctor whose decomposing body was found in her complex has been identified.
The deceased, Dr Vajjnah Banoo Mahomed, worked at Prince Mshiyeni Hospital in uMlazi and lived on her own.
Her mouth had been covered with duct tape, and her body was in a state of decomposition when she was discovered on Tuesday, Northglen News reported.
According to Greenwood Park Police Station spokesperson Warrant Officer Leon Audh, Mahomed was last seen on Thursday last week.

“At this point we can confirm there was no forced entry.
“Her family has been notified, and they and the community at large are in shock. Unfortunately, we cannot disclose any further details because it may compromise the case,” Audh said.
A resident, who lived in the same complex and didn’t want to be named, said she was saddened to hear of the Mahomed’s death.
“She was a very private person. I didn’t hear or see a thing, but her cat was acting weird this past week. She was eating at my house and leopard-crawling around my lounge for the past few days before her owner was discovered. We didn’t know why the cat was acting so weird, but now it makes sense, it’s just so sad,” she said.
Investigations are ongoing.
